The usual route from Makkah to Taif is the Al-Hada road. It is roughly 90 km and usually takes about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic in Makkah and on the mountain. The road climbs steeply with many hairpin bends, so pilgrims who get car sick may want a front seat and a short stop.
Qarn al-Manazil is the Meeqat for pilgrims coming from the direction of Taif. Pilgrims riding from Taif to Makkah for Umrah usually enter Ihram there. Two mosques are widely used for this Meeqat: As-Sail al-Kabir, and Wadi Muharram on the Al-Hada side.
